Description
ARTIFACT: This is a rare circa 1960 Practical Nurse graduation pin from the Paul A. Dever State School (also known as the Myles Standish School for the Mentally Retarded) at Taunton, Massachusetts. Founded in 1952, the institution was renamed for the former Governor Dever in 1959 and closed in 2002. The badge is gold-filled with an enameled border around a central seal of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. It is by Dorrety of Boston, Massachusetts. The back of the pin has the engraved initials of the pin's original recipient.VINTAGE: Circa 1960.
SIZE: Approximately 1-1/16" in height and 15/16" in width.
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Gold-filled, enamel.
ATTACHMENT: Horizontal pin with drop-in locking swivel catch.
MARKINGS: M.S. (original recipient's initials) and DORRETY BOSTON 1/10 10K FILLED on reverse.
