    Description

    Pacific Northwest Native Art Crooked Beak Mask Print
    This is a framed print which is entitled "Crooked Beak Mask",  "King & I" and numbered 39/50.
    There is a raised seal indicating this print was copyright in 1972 in ? Harbor, WA.
    Please see the photos for specifics.
    The print is matted under a black matte, framed in a silver metal frame, and is ready to hang.
    The frame measures 20 1/4 x 18 1/4 x 3/4".
    The mask depicted in this print is very similar to the "mask of the crooked beak" (Galukw'amhl) which was made as part of a set of hamatsa masks (c 1940) by Willie Seaweed (1873-1967). Masks such as the crooked beak are still made and used in dances by contemporary Kwakwaka'wakw artists and inheritors of this privilege.
