    Description

This is the BEST vintage nurse cape I've had so far. Excellent condition, without moth holes, one small spot near pocket inside, one pinhead sized spot inside and one small rip in inside lining. Also 2 pinholes on inside near hem. There is a pinhole where it was pinned at the collar, it does have an intact hook and loop at collar.  There is also a small chain for hanging. Cape belonged to Carol Marie (Duffy) Burdick of Clinton, NY. Her initials CMD are inside. Based on her obituary, I think she became a nurse around 1954. I will include her obituary. This cape looks older than 1950's, it has the same style as capes from the 1940's and would be suitable for a WW2 costume, or very nice and warm for a modern day nurse to wear. Navy wool with bright red lining and gold embroidery. Cape is clean and has no funny smells. It has a few wrinkles and needs pressing. Made by Standard Apparel Co. of Cleveland, Ohio. Measurements are: 17" across shoulders, 35" long from top of collar, and 57"across bottom one side. I don't think you will ever see another one this nice! Would make a wonderful gift for one of our hero nurses!
