Large Alaskan Eskimo Dog Sled Team Signed by Artist Julius Alowa (Savoonga, AK)

I have a wonderful Large Alaskan Eskimo Dog Sled Carving Signed by the Artist from Savoonga, AK.  This came out of an estate in North Carolina.  The gentleman who owned it was a retired firefighter in the Navy and was stationed in the Bering Sea in the 1980s when he purchased this item.
The carving has 7 dogs (3 sets of two and 1 lead dog) followed by a sled and an Eskimo man in the rear.  Each piece is intricately carved and the dogs range in color from white to brown with the lead dog having white, brown and black coloring.  All of the color is in excellent condition with hardly any paint loss if any.  There is no chipping, cracks or repairs to any of the dogs.  They are all tied together with a small leather rope that is held in the mans hands.
The man is standing in front of a sled that is in wonderful condition with no chips, cracks or repairs.  The man is detailed with black paint on his face, clothes and shoes that is in excellent condition.  He is holding the leather reigns and he has a flat pouch in the front that moves up and down.
On the platform of the piece it is lined in a rope carving and on the sides is carved whales and manatees.  On the back of the piece by the man is a carved polar bear.
The bottom of the platform is signed by the artist:  Julius Alowa, Box 181, Savoonga, Alaska  99769.  Savoonga is located on the Bering Sea at St. Lawrence Island
There is a small peg carved into the bottom of the platform that allows it to tilt forward so you can better see the carving on top.
The entire piece weighs 2 lbs and 8 ounces.  It is 18" long and is 2.5" at it's widest point at the back near the man.
This is an amazing piece of Alaskan Native artwork that has been proudly displayed for 40 years.
